At Coleg-y-Groes, we also give you the option to let both cottages together. Great for large groups, family gatherings, or events.
Relax and be lazy in the lounge
Across two cottages, make use of the living areas crammed with character and original features. The focal point of both rooms are the fabulous original 18th century fire places with slate mantel. Keep cosy and warm, especially in cooler months, with the wood burner, a truly unrivaled way to warm a room on a quiet evening.
Kitted out kitchens
Each cottage has its own fully fitted and furnished kitchens giving guests letting both cottages additional space. For larger gatherings, Eyton's kitchen and dining area has been designed with larger parties in mind. The space and facilities within Eyton's kitchen is comfortable enough to prepare meals for and seat up to 12 guests. Contained within either kitchen is a standalone Aga (Eyton)/Everhot (College) cooker and oven, dishwasher, fridge and freezer, pots, pans, crockery, cutlery and utensils, as well as microwave and kettle.
Child friendly stay at College
Coleg-y-Groes is a fantastic child friendly place to visit. We have a separate games rooms where kids will find a range of activities and games. Coleg-y-Groes nestles in the hillsides of Pen y pigyn woodlands a where energetic little ones can run around and explore. For guests with young children, we can provide a travel cot and highchair.
Recent renovations for a comfortable stay
Coleg-y-Groes has recently undergone extensive renovations. As well as cosmetic upgrades and improvements to provide a fresh and cozy feel to College, the cottage has also had brand new plumbing, heating and electrics installed to ensure a comfortable stay and bring these up to modern regulations and standards.
How many can stay?
Eyton and College combined offers five bedrooms, plus 'the den' room, sleeping up to 12 people. Together both cottages offer three bedrooms with king size beds, a large bedroom containing a double and single bed, and a fifth bedroom offering the option of two single beds or a super king size bed. 'The den' area connecting to this room contains a 3ft single bed. The entire top floor of both cottages has original oak flooring and fantastic views overlooking the Coleg-y-Groes gardens and the adjacent church grounds.
Have a soak after a long walk
Over both cottages, Coleg-y-Groes offers three bathrooms, each having showering facilities. The bathroom in College oozes eloquence with its double ended cast iron roll top bath, perfect to relax in and unwind after a great day out. Also contained within this bathroom is a separate enclosed shower quadrant, and traditional styled toilet and basin. Eyton offers one bathroom with a shower over bath with basin, and a second bathroom with shower, basin and toilet.
Spend time in the garden
The gardens at Coleg-y-Groes have been carefully landscaped to maintain a pleasant atmosphere year round. Enjoy bluebells and daffodils in the spring, a full garden bloom over the warmer months, or evergreens after the snow has fallen in winter. The gardens features many mature trees and bushes. Especially during the summer months, the garden is a great place to relax, read a book or eat dinner on the outdoor seating area from the BBQ.
No smoking in the cottage
Both our cottages implement a no-smoking policy inside the building to preserve the decor and buildings. We do offer an alternative designated smoking area on-site.
